There are many reasons why one would want to purchase a dog. Whether it’s to keep you company or to play games with, there’s no denying that dogs are one of the most popular pets out there.

However, there are plenty of breeds of dogs to choose from. Some of them are small and attractive, like poodles, others are big and scary, like German Shepherds. In this article, we will be going over 5 of the most beautiful dog breeds out there—as well as five uglier ones.

Keep in mind that beauty is subjective! Just because one person finds an animal ugly doesn’t mean someone else can’t find it beautiful, and vice versa. Remember, beauty is in the eye of the beholder!

Beautiful: Pomeranian

Pomeranian dogs are a small yet adorable breed of dog! Commonly known as Pom, these dogs are known for their playful behavior, making them a perfect breed for younger children.

Originating from Polan and German, Pomeranians are small but extremely fluffy! They are coated with a riff of fur all around their neck. They weight up to 7 pounds and can live a maximum of 16 years.

Poodles are an icon German dog breed known for their furry coat. They are active and extroverted, yet friendly and intelligent. They are a great choice for a family pet!

Poodles can come in various sizes: Standard Poodles are taller than 15 inches, Miniatures are between 10 and 15 inches, and Toys are 10 inches or less. Depending on their size, they can live between 10 and 18 years, making them one of the longer-living dogs on this list.

Ugly: Mexican Hairless Dog

Like poodles, Mexican Hairless Dogs, also known as Xoloitzcuintli, come in three different sizes: Standard, Miniature, and Toy. As the name suggests, Mexican Hairless Dogs are hairless. Instead, they typically have a smooth body.

This dog is a more introverted breed, however, they can be affectionate too. They are calm and loyal, however they are constantly alert.

Beautiful: English Cocker Spaniel

English Cocker Spaniels are one of the more majestic breeds of dogs! With silky fur and feathering on its ears and chest, this breed stands tall at up to 17 inches. Because they are very active and extroverted, they are an excellent choice for a family pet!

Ugly: Bull Terrier

Bull Terriers originate from England and are known for being very muscular. They have an egg-shaped head and a short coat of fur.

Without the proper training, these strong dogs tend to be aggressive and attack people! However, if trained properly, they can be just as playful and affectionate as other breeds on this list.
